Our Impact

Connecting People With Their Food

Sand n Straw Foundation exists to help children, families, and our community understand where food comes from and experience the hands-on work behind what nourishes us.

Through scholarships, farm-based education, community harvest support, gardening workshops, fruit tree education, and stewardship of our six-acre regenerative farm, we create opportunities for people to connect with their food, the land, and the people who grow it.

Every donation helps make these experiences possible.

91 families supported since 2021

Each number represents a child or family who was able to experience hands-on learning, food education, and outdoor discovery because of generous donors.

Young Pioneers Scholarships

Young Pioneers is a private outdoor enrichment program held at Sand n Straw Community Farm. Through gardening, cooking, animal observation, nature exploration, creative projects, seasonal farm activities, and hands-on science, children learn by doing.

The Foundation helps provide scholarships so more children can participate in these farm-based enrichment sessions.

These scholarships give children the opportunity to harvest food, care for animals, explore the garden, cook from seasonal ingredients, and build confidence through real-world learning.

Your support helps open the gate for the next child.

Community Harvest Support

Food has a way of bringing people together.

Through community harvest support, Sand n Straw Foundation helps families and community members experience fresh food, farm shares, seasonal harvests, and educational opportunities connected to what is growing on the farm.

This support helps people not only receive food, but understand the story behind it—how it was grown, why healthy soil matters, and how food connects us to the land.

Farm-Based Education

Our farm is a living classroom.

Children and families learn through hands-on experiences in gardening, cooking, fruit tree care, animal observation, composting, soil health, nature study, and seasonal farm rhythms.

Instead of only reading about food, students see it, touch it, grow it, harvest it, prepare it, and taste it.

These experiences help build curiosity, responsibility, gratitude, and a deeper connection to the food that nourishes us.

Adult Learning & Workshops

Sand n Straw Foundation also supports learning opportunities for adults and families who want to better understand gardening, fruit trees, food growing, and regenerative farming practices.

Workshops may include topics such as home gardening, fruit tree care, composting, seasonal growing, harvesting, and practical farm skills.

When adults learn how to grow and care for food, that knowledge can ripple into homes, families, neighborhoods, and future generations.

Caring for the Farm That Makes Learning Possible

The six-acre Sand n Straw Community Farm is more than a farm. It is the place where learning comes to life.

Fruit trees, garden beds, animals, soil, compost, and seasonal harvests all become part of the educational experience.

Foundation support helps care for the spaces where children and families learn, including educational gardens, orchard areas, farm learning spaces, and hands-on program areas.

When the farm is cared for, the learning can continue.

One Mission. Three Ways In.

Looking Ahead

Our hope is to continue expanding scholarships, educational opportunities, community harvest support, workshops, and farm-based learning experiences for more children and families.

As the farm grows, so does the opportunity to teach, serve, and connect people with their food in meaningful ways.

Your generosity helps make the next chapter possible.
